Sunrays packaging to offer consumer link to carbon footprint data

By TOM KARST (The Packer)

Starting this year, consumers will begin to see QR codes that link to the carbon footprint of every Sunrays mandarin package.

Sunrays are marketed by Jac Vandenberg Inc., a fourth-generation, family-owned and -operated fresh fruit importer and marketer. The marketer will be highlighting the new feature for Sunrays packaging at the International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show.

“When you scan the QR code you will learn more than you could ever imagine about a bag of fruit — including its carbon footprint,” the company said on the IFPA show website. “We are empowering the consumer to make the choices that matter to them and their community by providing the tools for them to succeed.”

Jac Vandenberg will exhibit at booth No. 3347 at the IFPA show, set for Oct. 19-21 in Anaheim, Calif.
